Simuflight recently hosted a cocktail evening to celebrate the finalization of the move to the new premises in Midrand and its official opening. The evening was wonderfully exciting with delicious food, drinks and lots of laughter; much due to the nervous relief of all the members of staff who have made the move possible. Many from the aviation industry also joined to help celebrate the occasion and to get the opportunity to have a look at the new facilities.

Boasting four dedicated lecture rooms for the various courses, with the inclusion of the new Boeing 737 course which started at the beginning of the year, 5 new simulator bays. In addition, with the larger workshop there is now more space available to meet the demand for more simulators.

Speaking with the owners Alfredo Schulz and Danie Kuys, the mood was optimistic about the aviation industry in the region.  “The healthy demand for training and simulators as the African emerging market grows has been a strong motivation for us. The new premises better equip us to provide a more integrated service to our existing customers and to meet the growing need for advanced training. This will very much be the focus for the second half of 2017.”

This coupled with the expansion of local routes and the growth in regional airlines, both operators and flight crew, now require an independent and reliable training provider which delivers world standard results and industry latest best practice at an affordable cost.

With many flight deck crew being lured to the Far East and Asia the demand for quality flight deck crew has never been so high and this has been evident with the number of pilots training at Simuflight.

The past six months have been very exciting to plan and complete the move; logistically moving all the simulators and keeping the training going was a challenge which the Simuflight team managed very successfully.

The reason as to why Simuflight has moved is purely a result of the success of the Simuflight brand originally started by the directors, Danie Kuys, Alfredo Schulz and Willy Schulz. With the inception of simulator manufacturing in 1995, the business evolved to the include flight training in 2003 and hence the new company slogan in 2017 of “Training Flight Deck Excellence.”

This new focus has generated the need for larger premises and the ream of new courses at Simuflight. This all complements the existing courses available and improves the experience and service our customers expect.

Some of the new courses available in 2017 include:

  • New Seneca Simulator
  • RNAV/GNSS & Performance Based Navigation
  • Initial Instrument Ratings
  • Initial MCC training Course
  • Crew Resource Management
  • Initial TCAS & Renewals
  • Turbine Instructors Rating
  • Garmin G1000 Training
  • Boeing 737-800 type ratings and recurrence

In addition to flight deck training, the simulator manufacturing has also been very busy. Henley Air attended the evening to see the progress of their new Bell 222 Simulator. To date SimuFlight has designed and produced 35 static type specific simulators in the FNPT II and FNPT II MCC Categories.

Some aircraft include:

  • Piper Warrior, Arrow and Senica III
  • Vulcanair P68R
  • Cessna Caravan
  • Beechcraft 200 & 1900
  • British Aerospace Jetstream
  • Bell Jet Ranger
  • Robinson R22 & R44
  • Cirrus SR22
